Small groups of birds skillfully avoiding nets, and we distrubed a group of twenty from adjacent wild bird cover - probably mostly yellowhammer. Tellingly a neighbouring farmenr told us there were loads of birds in his steading just over 1500m away feeding on dribbles of grain spilled while loading lorries, then crushed by wheels. So now we know where they have all gone.
