It's only Rock and Roller but I like it
Further upgraded to a proper American Golden Plover :t::t:

I believe its a County First for Staff and only the second for the WMBC region

Pacific Golden Plover

I got to the west screen on JWs and the first wader I saw was a Golden Plover which would have been a good record for July but it had too much black on it for a Golden, looking through Google on my phone American GP seemed to be the best fit so I put out the news to TVB, RBA etc. Many birders eventually arrived and the general consensus appears to be Pacific GP which is a first for the midlands. I hope to see some good photos on the web later.
Not much else was seen, just 1 Snipe, 2 Green Sandpipers and 2 Wigeon.
Surprisingly no RSPB volunteers were on the carpark to meet and greet and collect the £2 fee for none RSPB people today, though there is an honesty box.

Great find Geoff ... well done that man ! The bird was still showing well when I left around 5.30pm.
A couple of birders next to me however, confirmed it's not a first for the Midlands though, with the Rutland AGP around this time last year.
But who cares ... your find Geoff was giving a good deal of pleasure to a
stream of observers late into the day.
Cheers

Well done Geoff, you deserve a good bird for all the effort put in.

Thanks Laurie, it's a good job I enjoy it.
New in today was a Garganey on the NP, Teal numbers have built up to 18, I didn't see any Oystercatchers but had 4 LRP, 1 Snipe, 6 Green Sandpiper and 2 Common Sandpiper.
Also reported were 2 Black-tailed Godwit and the Pacific Golden Plover which was a bit more elusive than yesterday.
Geoff
