Found this unfortunate chap this morning on a local beach. Kind of ruled out Black-throated on the lack of a white flank patch, although not sure if that's an assumption you can always make? Unfortunately the neck isn't great for id purposes. Guess I could also measure my wellies.

Heel to toe on wellies exactly 29cm.

Width widest part of foot c.11 cm

Bill and legs both look pretty substantial so I'd agree with Great Northern.

Thanks, GND was my initial thought too.

Going on the measurements given (eg Collins and wikipedia (!) ) it seems to be right near the borderline on size.
