Sandwell Valley (1 Viewer)

Great White Egret on FML at 9am, just along from the hide near the viewing platform. Then flew low over the trees and looked to be heading towards the Newton meadows.
Also 25 Shovelers on FML, and 164 Coot on Swan pool.

Good Birding YAMYAM and a Happy Xmas to all
 
Cold an frosty earlier this morning.....- 4 degrees at 07.30am. Forge mill lake partly frozen.

3 Little Egrets
2 Goldeneye on Swan pool
1 Water Rail in the marsh
32 RN Parakeets from roost and around the RSPB centre.
1 Green Woodpecker
A few Redwings about.
 
Not much difference in bird numbers on Swan pool or FML this lunchtime.

Goldeneyes still on Swan pool.
10 Herring Gulls
26 Shovelers on FML
23 Pochards on FML
9 Goosander

More people than birds today 🤬
 
2m and 2 female goldeneye swan pool plus 4 shoveler, kingfisher, 2 skylark over. Colliery bank: 15 plus goldcrest fm: 19 snipe, 30 lapwing, 8 goosander, little egret, 2 gs wd, 5 meadow pulpit on deck Tanhouse field per Steve Lilly

Is there a map that shows the locations that you describe? Can't find them on OS maps.
 
The year got off to a fairly good start with 68 species, main Highlights being a Yellow legged Gull, Common Gull and 5 Goldeneye on Swan Pool, a Jack snipe was seen on the Bund and the Cetti's warbler was heard near the Sluice.

We had 3 additions to the year list today Greylag per Matt Hadlington, Kestrel per Richard Baker and Woodcock per My Self taking the year list to 71
