Sandwell Valley (1 Viewer)

A pleasant couple of hours down the valley again (2.30 - 4.30pm). On arrival greeted with a couple of Chiffchaffs and a Blackcap.

Had a good scan of FM island for the Common Sand which had been reported earlier, but no sign. Was just about to go, when spotted this distant Little Ringed Plover, which unusually sat in the same position for at least half an hour, soaking up the rays!

RBA states 4+ Common Scoter flew over the Valley yesterday, but only 2 mentioned for Forge Mill Lake. Any knowledge of the fly overs?
Steve, I`d take some of these reports with a pinch of salt, or checked out thoroughly. For example, today RBA reports "sighting" of Great :unsure:Spotted Cuckoo in Gloucestershire, BirdGuides, also today, lists this as a "notable sighting". On checking Glos Twitter it was only, apparently sound recorded on 31 March:unsure:.

Today in Sandwell our first Tree Pipit of the year, at least 3 wheatear in the valley and a Great White egret over Salters lane

Possibly 2 Skylarks at Swan Pool (on the field that has signs warning people about nesting Skylarks). No hovering but they were flittering about making some noise. No crest on the head either. Here's a pic. Skylark or something else?Skylark?.jpeg
