Hi
I represent a group of local people in the Yorkshire Dales. who are fighting a development plan. on an important site for passage migrants / waders.
we have records of 81 bird species. 12 on the red list +many more on the amber.we are fighting to keep this land natural.and looking to add to our support from others intrested in wildlife and presserving biodiversity.
if anyone feels they could help by signing our online petition. That would be great.

I know some of the area and a holiday village there would be criminal, leaving out the environmental impact, the extra traffic generated would mean that was is already a very busy road would be way overloaded. Please sign the petition

I have signed the petition, but with some hesitation despite being a regular visitor and despite being very concerned about development plans. Neither your website or the petition site provide and detail or evidence of the threat. You really need to quantify what the proposals you are opposing are, what the timescales are etc. I would expect you would garner more support if you spell out what the threat and impact are likely to be.

PS - I'd also question your choice of petition site. It is very possible for someone to donate money thinking they were supporting your cause when in fact funds would go to the commercial venture owning the petition site. The way they do this seems very underhand, IMHO, and likely to mislead.

Details?

I would certainly consider signing the petetion but without seeing the planning application I am reluctant to do so. Can anyone provided a link to the online application?

more informaton

Many thanks to those who have already signed the petition, and the interest shown.
In response for more detail. I hope the following short history is of help.
The site is around 200 acres of farmland on the edge of the dales national park. Partly within a conservation area. The developers, fronted by Halton Homes, have over many years. Submitted various plans for ever larger developments, the main of which have been passed, but not actually built. The exception being the caravan park to the west of the A65. The latest proposal is for a huge leisure park covering the Hellifield Flashes to the East of the A65 of 100 acres+.The proposals were available on the developers website. However since the formation of our Group this website has been offline. We are still awaiting submission of the latest plans to Craven District Council.
But it must be noted that once plans have been passed on a Greenfield site it can then become a Brownfield site.and as such not subject to the same planning regulations. We have chosen to build support now due to the limited time available to object once full plans are submitted.
Previous plans can be found online on the Craven District Council planning website by searching for Gallaber or waterside.
