Scottish Wildlife Trust purchases 7,618-hectare Inverbroom Estate near Ullapool with the help of a private donation.
  • 71% of the site is peatland.
  • There are 234 hectares of mixed semi-natural woodland.
  • Two Munros are located at the southeastern extremity of the estate: A’ Chailleach (997m) and Sgùrr Breac (999m).
  • Two Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) are within the estate: Meall an t-Sithe & Creag Rainich SSSI and part of the Fannich Hills SSSI.
  • Inverbroom sits within the Transition Zone of the UNESCO Wester Ross Biosphere, one of two such areas in Scotland.

 
The SWT news article mentions that a former owner of the estate was Sir John Fowler and says he designed the Forth Road Bridge. But of course, they should have said the Forth Bridge, aka the rail bridge. They do get it right on the second reference to a bridge.

What an opportunity this is.
