Good stuff. It is certainly on my potential places list but I'm not sure I'm up for a solo independent trip...

The proper Sahara bits would be hard to do without local support I think. I think between the field guides, here and eBird you could probably get to the right sites for most of the other species and IDing is pretty easy as you’re never overwhelmed by new species if you’ve been to the med. hotels etc were very nice. It wasn’t much of a culture shock country at all

The driving is what puts me off anything like this Independently. Roads were good and the miles went by quickly but it was still a lot of miles. 2500km I think our guide said. Traffic in agadir was a bit nuts too although still nothing like sub Saharan Africa

I was really impressed by how well naturetrek broke those drives up with regular birding stops but I still wouldn’t fancy the mileage. Lots of people obviously do do it independently very well but I enjoyed the tour aspects
