There does seem to be a lot of hedgerow fruit around this year, Wendy. Nice photo's.

I just checked back to a previous post of my own & you are right, Fozzy. I didn't realise the edit option went after 24 hours. You could still repost the same photo's in a later post with the new captions though, with an explaination as to why you have posted them again. I think that would work?

Lots of lovely sparkly cobwebs in the fog this morning.

Super web pics, Wendy! I particularly like the web in the first pic. Love the webs it's just that there is a spider usually slap bang in the middle of them!o:D

That looks a nice place to go, Cheersm8, lovely Dragonfly photo's too. It is strange how you have them as thumbnails & the links to them also. They all open to show the larger photo's.

Val. I added the 'links' just so that Wendy can view them ( if she wants to ), as, for her, my attached thumbnails won't open when she clicks them.

That is a good idea, CM8. It's strange Wendy can't open them. I did have that problem a while ago but it was everyones photo's not just one or two peoples. It righted itself.

I went for a couple of walks to Galleyend and Galleywood Common yesterday and this morning, yesterday in one spot I saw a lot of young Goldfinches, a flock of Yellowhammers, blue tits, great tits, chaffinches, woodpigeons and collared doves plus a couple of sparrowhawks flying over. Hidden away in the undergrowth was a fallen tree with some of the biggest bracket fungi I've ever seen, but the plant growth around the trunk made getting a photo really difficult. I also saw a Painted Lady on the ivy nearby.

yesterday:
1. Painted Lady on Ivy
2. young Goldfinch

today:
3. Autumnal bracken at Galleywood Common
4. Bell heather flowers 'going over' on the Galleywood Common heath
5. Oak woods at Galleywood Common

On the walk this morning I didn't get many photos, what I saw was mostly at a distance and against the low sunlight, but I saw lots of woodpigeons and gulls on the fields, a few brown hares (only my second sighting of those!), a great spotted woodpecker, a lot of long-tailed tits, a rabbit, a fox, grey squirrels, plenty of robins, blackbirds (with bald heads... is it a moult thing, all I'm seeing are bald headed blackbirds at the moment!?), plus lots of little birds silhouetted against the sky. I discovered a couple of small spinneys packed with hornbeam trees (very cool!) and when I got to Galleywood I saw a white bird flying away that looked like a Barn Owl, although it wasn't a very good view of it - I don't think it was a collared dove or a gull, it looked pretty 'barny' but I didn't get a good enough view to know. I know there are barn owls in that area as I found a sign saying so but I need to get a better sighting to be sure. I also found a badger sett at the edge of a field, a very recently used one with lots of marks and spoil around the entrance. I think I may have to go back with my walkstool and some peanuts one evening to see if I can get a sighting - that would be amazing if I could but I'm not under an illusion that it'll be easy!

I've been seeing little orange butterflies recently but today was the first time I'd seen one actually settle, out on the heath at Galleywood Common - it was a Small Copper, lovely little thing.

6. Small Copper
7. Small Copper... with eggs?

A very nice selection there, Paul. We had a small copper in the garden the other day, and of course, by the time I came back with my camera it had flown.

That oak wood looks beautiful, Fozzy. I've not seen any Painted Ladies for weeks now and the only butterflies that are around are Whites and Small Tortoiseshells.

Hope that is a Barn Owl for you and that you get to see it and we get to see the pictures.....;)

Good selection there Fozzy. The butterflies look in pristine condition, the few I have seen here have been rather tatty.

Nice, Kits, particularly the fungus photo, with the water droplets.

Thanks for two great reads, Fozzy! You certainly saw plenty of Flora and Fauna on your walks! They do look like eggs in the pic! Great images of your walks! Good luck with the Badgers and Barn Owls!:t:
