Yes, the tertial pattern seems to be within the variation of Semi-collared (I'll link this bird again): http://www.digimages.info/gobdem/gobdem.htm [By the way, I have no idea why the bird in the link above has a moult contrast at the outer primaries in March] However, like I have already written, I have not found pictures of Collared Flycatchers with such a tertial pattern, though I have looked at a lot of different pictures (among others, lots of images of females ringed in Gotland, Sweden). Of course, with a bigger sample perhaps some aberrant individuals could be found. Anyway, a hybrid Collared x Pied Flycatcher is IMO a stronger contender than a pure Collared or a pure Pied. I'm rather unsure about the greater coverts on the left wing. One covert is completely visible, and you see a large white patch between it and the tertials. This was also visible in the field, but I couldn't see any details. I can see two reasons for the appearance of the coverts: 1. Some inner greater coverts are missing, and the patch is formed by the white bases of the secondaries. 2. The bird is moulting the greater coverts on the left wing, with the new coverts being of adult male type with broad white tips. Don't know how usual such a moult strategy would be on a 2cy male of any of these species (and 2cy male Semi-collared/Collared Flycatchers would probably be black and white in spring). I have not Krister's email adress, but I have emailed someone who might have it.
