A good catch in the actinic last night, windless, with a total of 80 moths and 29 species.

Black Rustic: new for garden
Beautiful Gothic: nfy

Also included was a very colourful Silver Y.

Very smart Beautiful Gothic Nerine. Lovely.

More assorted sallows here last night. As The Sallow is so variable, it is interesting to see how little retrapping there appears to be. Orange Sallows seem to wear relatively easily and although there again seems little retrapping there is the odd individual which crops up every few days. Also Large Ranunculus again.

I did catch Pseudoargyrtoza conwagana which is typically a July species.

Thanks, Jonathan, it is a pretty moth, I agree.

In my trap this morning I found The Sallow - first sallow species for my garden! :t:

It was much colder last night, around 6 degrees and clear.

Nice one Nerine! The very pale forms seem commoner here although I've had a couple as dark as yours.
Here are some from the last night or two. I must photograph a less tatty Orange Sallow!

I have not had the trap out for a few nights, as I have been away. But whilst delivering mail in a block of flats this morning, I found a Frosted Orange sitting on the wall inside! Well chuffed, as its my first ever. Time to get one in the garden now then.

Good mothing.

Frosted Orange is one of my favourites, Sean.

The temperature last night was a lot milder with cloud cover and I trapped nearly 100 moths with the MV. 27 species, none new but some nice ones including a second Sombre Brocade this year for the garden.

On the contrary, I had a better night last night after struggling with clear skies and 9c, we had complete cloud cover at 1am and the temperature steadily increased to 16c at 6am this morning, because of this there was roughly 60 Moths of no less than 18 species which is extraordinary for my Garden.
New for year for Macros were Red-line Quaker & Spruce Carpet
New for year for Micros were Acleris sparsana & Acleris emargana

others of note partial second generations of Shuttle-shaped Dart, Straw Dot & Turnip Moth, indeed the summer species have had a great year.

I fear for the Winter/Spring species as the ground is just so dry, we are in desperate need of some rain which we last had 17 days ago here!!
