I'm still not sure whether I'm interpreting body proportions and bill size correctly.

Bonus question: are these bar-tailed godwits?

Can't get a handle on these with a small image on the phone but I think I see a strongish supercilium in some pix, good for Whimbrel. Also bill seems shorter than it would be for a Curlew, but it's all a bit blobby on the screen.

Unless a curlew/whimbrel bill is obviously too long for whimbrel, it's better to rely on a whimbrel having an obviously-contrasting darker cap and a curlew not having one; if the view is good enough, look also for whimbrel's pale median crown-stripe. Most of yours show a dark crown.

not only are the bills too long but they are also rather evenly curved downwards - these are Eurasian Curlews.
The godwits are more difficult from these pics (I found that assessing tibia length in such pics can be rather deceptive). Best is to look for the more structured upperparts (curlew-like) for Barwit through your bins or a scope rather than taking dubious photos. My impression is they still can be Bar-tailed although one of them looks very long legged.

Whimbrel or curlew? Bill too long for whimbrel, looks good for Eurasian curlew.
Godwit: Jizz suggests long-legged and long-billed waders. I just think they are not bar-tails. and in my opinion the godwits are black-tailed.
