Prof. Dr Claus König (b.1931) is an ornithologist, a friend of the describer and '... a connoisseur of Argentine birds'. He was Professor of Zoology at Stuttgart University and was at the State Natural History Museum in Stuttgart as head of the ornithology section (1971–1996) and as Director of the Museum (1997– 2000). Since his retirement he has continued to work there as a volunteer. He is author or co-author of a number of papers including 'Zur Kenntnis der Kleinsäugetiere von Ibiza (Balearen)' (1958) and 'Owl vocalizations as interspecific differentiation patterns and their taxonomical value as ethological isolating mechanisms between various taxa' (2000).
