Sick Hairy Woodpecker (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know what could be wrong with this Hairy Woodpecker? I’m in Massachusetts, so it’s not supposed to have any brownish feathers. We took down this suet feeder in case it has a contagious avian disease, but would like to put the feeder back up if it’s safe to do so. Thank you!

Follow-up: A wild bird rehabilitator advised us that this doesn’t look like a contagious disease given that the bird’s behavior is normal, and that it’s likely okay to put the feeder back out if we continue to monitor the bird’s condition closely. I would still be interested to hear any thoughts any of you might have, because she didn’t know the reason the feathers look like this.
