Sightron SII Blue Sky HD 20-60X85 (1 Viewer)

I want to buy a spotting scope, but where I live (Norway) the choice in the range I'm willing to pay (5-15k NOK) is very limited. I've spotted this model in a shop: Sightron SII Blue Sky HD 20-60x85 Vinklet Spotting Scope and it had a good review on a shooting website: Sightron Spotting Scope Review - Spot Your Hits At Long Ranges!

Has anyone used Sightron for birdwatching? How does it compare to more popular birding scope brands?

As this scope is in the shop, it is an ideal opportunity to actually ask to use it outside the shop on a tripod, especially if they have another model to compare.

As there is sample variation with scopes, again this is an ideal opportunity to try it yourself.

Hopefully it will be a good day with good Seeing conditions.

Ah, they're 150 km away from me

I ordered Celestron Trailseeker 20-60X80 on the basis of online reviews. It's entry level, but way cheaper than anything else I saw available and which seemed suitable for birding.

Ah, they're 150 km away from me

I ordered Celestron Trailseeker 20-60X80 on the basis of online reviews. It's entry level, but way cheaper than anything else I saw available and which seemed suitable for birding.

5-15k NOK is £370 to £1109. If you are not happy with the Celestron and send it back, then Opticron have scopes in this price range which are well regarded on this forum, and they have a web page in Norwegian here :

They have dealers in Olso, Trondheim, Bergen, and places even further north I have never heard of and as far away as Kirkenes, which is almost Russia !

I got my Celestron. One screw fell out from the eye scope, but I fixed it so far I tested it in good light, and it's OK. A bit hazier than the Svarovski scopes I tested when other birdwatchers let me, but... it's 5x cheaper! I'm going to keep it for now.
