?skylark / meadow pipit Northumbria (1 Viewer)

i saw this bird, which i thought was a skylark from its song, and when it landed on a post took the attached picture
now that i've had time to take a closer look at it, i'm starting to have my doubts : to my (inexperienced) eye it looks like a meadow pipit !
can someone put me out of my misery and help me decide ? i'm starting to think that i've mixed up a skylark song with a meadow pipit landing on a post

oh, btw, the picture was taken on Holy Island, Northumbria about a week ago

A long thin bill is a good distinguishing feature of pipits versus skylarks and your bird nicely shows that. Those bold breast streaks and no sign of a crest are good for meadow pipit too. Good pic btw.
