SLC 10x50 - why was it discontinued? (4 Viewers)

etc

I see the 10x50 SLC was dropped circa 2010.

Any opinions on it? Looking at one used, considering it. Not sure if it's the "Neu" one but it is WB.

Currently SLC has only 42mm and 56mm configurations. Not that it's a bad thing, just thought I would pick 10x50 configuration before I got a 10x56mm. Not that there is a huge difference, they are both big and heavy.

10X50 SV = $$$$, To bad about the diopter issue, the Leica 10X50 UV HD+ is a good cheaper option, I was very surprised and elated with the view.

I had a 10x50 SLC Neu version for several years. It has nice contrast and sharpness, and very bright in lower light.

It is a nice value when found used, as it is among the best 10x50's
available even today.

I would be looking for an SLC that is newer than 2002, when Swarobright,
dielectric prism coatings were standard on all their binoculars.

The Neu version had an armor change, that is easily found if you study a
bit.

Good luck with your search.

IMO Leica has the most magnificent view of all the binos but they suffer from a lowest value of all alpha brands in terms of diopters at infinity value being only -4D, completely unacceptable and a deal breaker.
Swaro EL has -6D for 8.5x and -8D for 10x.
