If you are used to good quality full size binoculars the ONLY way you are going to be satisfied with an 8x20 is by buying a top quality 8x20 meaning it has fully multicoated lenses and phase coated prisms and this means buying a Leica Ultravid, a Zeiss Victory, Swarovski or the Nikon LX in an 8x20. I have tried them all and I have tried alot of CHEAP 8x20's and cheap 8x20's are REALLY bad! A 20 mm aperture is not collecting much light anyway and then if your lenses are not fully multicoated and your prism not phase corrected you are losing even more of that precious light! CHEAP 8x20's are dim and usually have smaller FOV's and are really disappointing to look through. Sorry I would recommend you stay away from them. It is AMAZING what Zeiss and Leica can do with coatings on a 20mm lens. It is almost magical the performance and brightness increase you get with quality coatings. I have tried them all and I prefer the Zeiss 8x20 Victory because it has one hinge and optically it is good as the Leica Ultravid with it's newer coatings. They have a $75.00 rebate on the Zeiss right now so if you could get one for about $400.00 from Camerland on E-bay that would only be $325.00 which is about as low as I would go on a compact. CHEAP 8x20's are JUNK take my word for it! Mid-size or even compact porro's are REALLY not compacts and they will not easily fit in your pocket like a quality 8x20 roof will.

[QUOTE="denco@comcast.n, post: 1651936, member: 25300"] It's impossible to find a cheap and good 8x20 roof prism binocular. CHEAP 8x20's are dim and usually have smaller FOV's and are really disappointing to look through. Sorry I would recommend you stay away from them.
