Andrew, theres been up to 3 water Pipits on the estuary between the Old quay house and Lelant station. Park near or walk to the bit of land thats for sale with the Miller and Son sign on it and look onto the estuary from there. As Scoxie said I've not failed with the Spotshank from Lelant Old station.

Sounds like you had a good day Steve. Got all the target birds. Will probably be out Sunday morning if interested. Give me a ring on my mobile.

regards Paul.

Ps Bloody hell I've just noticed. It only says I've had 25 posts!! I must have lost some during that crash?! Thats what you were on about (jada dula) with the amount of posts I'd had!

Hey, Ryan, we could have been in the same location today if someone were to go by our bird list today. Like you say, the Red-winged Blackbirds were really singing, as well as some Western Meadowlarks over here. I birding around the oxbows south of town and got one Trumpeter Swan (#0C2), Snows and Canadas. I only got 9 species of ducks on Lake Contrary, as compared to your eleven (11), I believe you reported on MOBIRDS. You edged me out for the total also, I only got 36 species this morning.

Nothing new for the year.

The RSPB Rainham Marshes open day produced a couple more:

156: Rock Pipit
157: Yellow-legged Gull

Also SEOwl, and a very handsome Water Pipit.

About 2 minutes ago a Black-collared Hawk flew past the house. I think it was attracted by the smoke from the sugar cane fields that are being burned. I hadn't seen a new year bird for 12 days.

152. Black-collared Hawk

Good Birding!

I take it this is a world list good luck for the 1,000.. :bounce:

Since this was the last day of the month that I'd be able to go birding, I birded hard for about six hours and visited many sites. A rather disappointing day, as I was only able to get two new birds, bringing my Year List up to 108. I wanted to see at least four new birds so that I'd be up to 110. The two birds I did get, though, were pretty good, so it wasn't a complete waste.

107. Cape May Warbler
108. Black Vulture

The warbler has been coming to a feeder on the campus of Indiana University for the last few weeks, and I believe it's the first winter record for this species in Indiana.
