Just found that I had forgotten to list the Razorbill I saw at Llanfairfechan on 29/01/05 as a new year bird, so my revised totals are.

Year 159. Jan 145. Feb 14

Well a combination of bad weather, half term and my 6 month old daughter led to very little birding getting done in Feb (just hope March is a lot better). Only added a few to the year list which now stands at 153 (BOU) all bar one seen in Norfolk (the rb gull in Essex). In the last week on birdguides there have been at least 10 species in Norfolk that I need for the year list so let's hope I can get out and see them soon.....

jada dulo

Mr.VP!!!
Total for end of February is 140 !! ( Jan. 123 & Feb. 17 ). Not been birding for a week now .... but I'm off to Norfolk on Friday so I should pick up a few good 'uns there , all being well . Still not been for the Little Bunting either ....

Dreadful day. Tried for a few, including the Farnbourough Hall Lesser Scaup and the Cattle Egret near Clevedon in Somerset. The only year tick I acheived in the end were the three Scaup at Chew.

Totals now are.

Year 160, Feb 15

Question for the US members who are keeping yearlists:

Are you guys (Larry Lade, lassa8, nightjar61, etc) keeping track of your home county list? I am, and if some of you are too, Darren could make a US county list in the summary thread. Would any of you use it if he did?

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,

No county year list, just ABA Area Year List and Indiana Year List. After I go to Kazakhstan, I'll also keep a World Year List.

Michael-
No county list for me either....I end up birding in too many for me to want to keep track.

One more new bird for the year today.
144. Ring-necked Duck (84 Missouri)

Michael, I do keep a lot of lists, but "counties" is not among them.

I keep World List, State Lists (for all the states I have birded in), Missouri Year List and Yard List. A also try to keep lists of specific places where I regularly bird, State Parks, National Wildlife Refuges, Local Patches, etc.

Getting on towards 220, and going for 1000 this year (if you're interested my blog - lots of photos - is at http://www.charliesbirdblog.com). Should add quite a few this month with two day-trips to the US, Dubai on Monday, and a day in Mexico City in a few weeks...

I managed just over a 1,400 in 2002. I spent the whole year backpacking around Africa, Australia, NZ and South America, birding on the cheap (I spent USD8,000 in total). Fantastic year spent not working! My favourite birding is in Africa.

I'm not that far behind, at 53!

No county lists, though I have notes for the year.

We see some birds in the middle of the Mississippi. I put them down as Missouri if I am standing in Missouri. I sure don't know where the line goes.

Here in Missouri our "Spring Season" begins March 1 (for the seasonal reports which are printed in our quarterly publication "The Bluebird"). This morning I ventured over to the Dunn Ranch near Eagleville, Missouri, to try for some prairie chickens. (The Dunn Ranch is about 100 miles from Saint Joseph, Missouri, where we live).

When I arrived at the lek I counted 30 Greater Prairie Chickens sparring, struting, "booming", cackling and clucking. They were occasionally harassed by a couple of Northern Harriers which kept diving at them. I guess the harriers were looking for an injured, incapacitated chicken to "have for breakfast". The chickens would fly up and land a little outside of the lek area. Then when the harriers moved on the chickens would come back to the lek. It was a great show!

Missouri: 98 (J 83, F 14, M 1)
ABA area: 111
