A day of almost all blanks. Went to Needingworth, Cambs after the Am Wigeon and Smew but they had all disappeared. I then went back to Pitsford Reservoir in Northants for the R T Diver and Scaup but couldn't find them. Finally called into Ravensthorpe Reservoir, Northants for a back up Smew but that had gone as well. Finished off by coming home and doing the RSPB garden birdwatch. I did get a couple of common bird year ticks whilst out.

132. Green Woodpecker
133. Ruddy Duck

This morning I birded from my vehicle as it was just to cold to walk about in the out of doors. I watched the bird feeders at a friend's home on the northern shore of Lake Contrary, Saint Joseph, Missouri. During the 45 minutes or so that I was there I observed twenty (20) species of birds.

The new Missouri bird for 2007 was:

97. Merlin

59. Iceland Gull
60. Peregrine Falcon
61. Lesser Black-backed Gull
62. Bald Eagle

Also of note was a VERRRY interesting gull we got in the Windsor/Bloomfield CT Landfill - We are uncertain of it's identity at this point, but got good looks in the scope and some pictures (which I will soon be posting on the ID forums). We think we've narrowed it down to two things... HEGU x LBBG, or... I don't want to jinx it by saying a state record that would be a HUGE DEAL outloud... but...

YLGU?
