A Green sandpiper has joined the overwintering Common sandpiper and both were in the same bins view on opposite sides of the river today.

Birding the Saint Joseph, Missouri, "River Walk" this morning I added three more birds to my 2006 Missouri Year List:

76. Cooper's Hawk (being somewhat harassed by several American Crows)
77. Pileated Woodpecker

Mr.VP!!!
Apart from the patch, not been out anywhere apart from a few hours in N.Wales, hence the low score, anyway, walking the dog yesterday netted me....

89 - Yellowhammer.
90 - Siskin.
91 - Red-legged Partridge.

Was on 122 by this time last year, so slow starting this year.... mind you, the patch takes priority this year.... as does the 32in. LCD HD-ready telly I've just convinced my wife that we need!!! ;) But they dont come cheap.... thats nearly a grand out of the 'twitch' fund for this year!!

This is my first year going from birdwatcher, bird feeder, to birder. Never kept a list before, never went out to seek birds. I love keeping lists!

Began my year on a trip to Colorado, and my FIRST bird "as a birder" was a Bald Eagle flying in from a swamp over the resevior at the Cherry Creek State Park on Denver's south side.

Live in Chicago proper, so don't have any real finds yet, but did see a Red-shouldered Hawk and a pair of Red-breasted Mergansers Monday on the lakefront. I love seeing things I never noticed before!

That's quite a first bird for your life list!

I birded at Cherry Creek Park a couple of years ago--actually "stole" a couple of hours birding there during a working trip. It was quite a nice big patch of green in the middle of the wasteland of suburban Denver. I also saw a bald eagle there (my second ever sighting of one), and got several lifers, including northern harrier, gadwall, rough-legged hawk, and black-capped chickadee.

It snowed a couple of inches yesterday here in Saint Joseph, Missouri. So, I was a little surprised to add this next species to my year list!

78. Killdeer

There were four of these birds picking around in the snow at the shoreline of Lake Contrary this morning.
