Coming home on the train from Niagara Falls on Thursday, April 20 I saw a Ring-necked Pheasant, a wild one, and 4 Wild Turkeys. They were both year's first.
But my list so far is only 70.

Unbelievably good day in glorious Devon with super weather and birds.

Pied Flycatchers, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Tree Pipit, Garden Warbler, Cuckoo, Whinchat and to top it all off a showy Short-eared Owl.

Another seven tick day will be a very long time coming.

Thanks Ian. :t:

This evening I went to a marsh about an hour west of here. A beautiful spring evening with a spectacular sunset. I saw three new birds for the year, bringing my Year List up to 304.

302. Sora
303. Gray Catbird
304. House Wren

I saw a total of five Soras, and all but one flushed. The fifth one seemed reluctant to fly, and was just a few feet away. I was therefore able to get the best look I've ever had of a Sora.

Walking my dog yesterday at 0945 I heard a call above and looked up to see a White Stork warning off an inquisititve carrion crow. The Stork circled a few times at about 75 metres and then headed north. Its legs looked pale so I assume it was a juvenile.
