Dont remember Sam? I was there at 07:00hrs and left around 08:30am, we had it about 20ft away, got great views but proved very elusive after 08:00hrs....That's why we left!!
But then at 14:30hrs I was off again to Anglesey for....

216 - ISABELLINE WHEATEAR!!!!

WOW! What a great bird, excellent views again!! Tired now, but well chuffed!!

Ditto, the only difference being we drove all the way from Gib Point in Lincs to get there, the traiffc was horrendous!! An awesome bird, i've stuck a pic on the thread in Rare Bird Information.

Patch year ticks in the last week or so were Crossbill and (today) Wryneck, which was also a patch first for me. Now on 184 for the year, which puts last year's total of 186 under severe pressure!

Added some great stuff on a recent trip to Malaysia (Malaysia), putting my year list at 487 species. Still a ways to go to break my 1995 record of 510 species. :gn:

It's been too long since I've had something to post here! Yesterday, we went out to Kananaskis for the Golden Eagle Migration and saw 9 G. Eagles & 1 Cooper's Hawk moving through.

I had one of those rare birding days when everything just clicked. I saw the four target birds I went after (including an Indiana state lifer) plus three unexpected birds. I saw six new birds for the year, bringing my Year List up to 502.

497. Franklin's Gull
498. Northern Waterthrush
499. Savannah Sparrow
500. Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow
501. Lincoln's Sparrow
502. Blackpoll Warbler

The Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow was Indiana state lifer number 260. And in addition to the birds listed above, I added Sabine's Gull to my Indiana Year List (I had seen the species this spring on my California pelagic trip).

I birded Swan Lake National Wildlife Area, Sumner, Missouri, on October 3 and picked up one more 2006 year bird for Missouri.

256. Bonaparte's Gull

Mr.VP!!!
Unfortunately sacked Norfolk for the Pallid Harrier today after 48 hours and no reliable news for a day in Wales.... Managed 2 year ticks, but wish I'd stuck to my original plan. Missed Leach's today which was also a downer... oh yeah, my size 10 migrane was another, anyway....

220 - Black Scoter (Good to finally nail this bird after what was my 6th attempt for it).
221 - Arctic Skua.

A great day today in Wales with both good weather and good birds!

302: Woodchat Shrike
303: Short-toed Lark (British Tick!)
304: Manx Shearwater
305: Chough
306: Black Scoter

Also a nice Curlew Sandpiper at Morfa Madryn on the way back.

A rare day indeed in that we completely cleared up on everything we went for!!

Went birding on a beautiful fall morning, and got a new bird for the year, bringing my Year List up to 503.

503. American Bittern

The bittern was also number 350 for the ABA Area year. In addition, I saw two Glossy Ibis, extremely rare birds in Indiana, for an Indiana year tick (number 217).
