The Monarch DCF (Diopter Central Focusing) is an older model, which is ranked #77 by Allbinos in their ranking of 10x42 binos. Here is the link to their review of the Monarch DCF 10x42: Nikon Monarch 10x42 DCF - binoculars review - AllBinos.com
If you cannot afford a pair of Monarch HG the next in line would be the Monarch 7.
Another option for you would be the Vanguard Endeavor 10x42 II (or IV) ranked #16 in the 10x42 category by Allbinos: Vanguard Endeavor ED II 10x42 - binoculars review - AllBinos.com
I owned the 10x42 II and can say that they were hard to beat in their price range.

They are Sweet! but pricey (486usd),,, well,, like Monarch 7,,,, but that ED2 glass, and I really luv the look of their armoring,,, they ooze hi-quality. I'll research for sure,,, good distributer here too, not a fly-by-night. Open bridge takes getting used to... but growing on me... seems Swarovski does that too.
