Hello everybody , i'm new bird photographer , planning on a birding trip in Vietnam.
I'm planning to visit Cat Tien , Tan Phu & Da Lat.My main target is Pitta..
I hope anybody can help me with info (about everything include bird hide) and recommend me a freelance guide can suit my budget.
Million thanks in advance..

I wrote an email share to a friend from US, he asked to visit Vietnam last March. I believe you might find the content of the email useful. Here is the email detailing the plan.

Thac Mai Forest (1 hour from Cat Tien):

Bird hideout service available, owned by Mr. Đạt (VN mobile: 0948607131).
Approximately 40~50 USD/person for a visit to 3 tents for a day. He may have some owls for you, ask him.
Great chance to save time and explore the wilderness.

Cat Tien National Park:

  • Connect with Mr. Khanh (VN mobile: 0947938993) (Khánh Hoang Dã), the go-to wildlife guide.
    • Early morning: Spot wild Yellow-cheeked gibbons in the dense jungle (about 40 USD/person).
    • Morning: Visit Germain's peacock-pheasant site for fantastic feather displays (30~50 USD/person).
    • After lunch: Explore pitta site with other species at the 2nd hideout.
    • Evening: Prepare for a night walk with Khanh, aiming to spot slow lorises and maybe some elusive snakes and owls.
    • Next day: Visit Bau Sau (crocodile lake) for unique bird species and wildlife.
    • Afternoon: Bicycle ride to Nui Tuong Ranger station for more birdwatching.
    • Evening: Experience the night safari at Cat Tien.

Di Linh - Nui San Pass:

Book with Mr. Phuc Le (0969716472) for a bird hideout session from morning until evening with stunning scenery. FB Phuc Le

Da Lat:

Reach out to Mr. Tien (0961210019), a renowned bird guide.
Explore various spots like Datala Waterfall, Tuyen Lam Lake, Sky Gate, and Bidoup National Park.

Get ready for an adrenaline-packed birding extravaganza in Cat Tien! When you're there, don't just ask for Khanh; shout his name from the treetops! He's the maestro of the wilderness, the bird whisperer extraordinaire. Trust me, he'll turn your birding adventure into a symphony of colors and calls. Khanh is not just a guide; he's your ticket to the ultimate birding experience!

Now, Da Lat is a whole different level of awesomeness! Enter the realm of Mr. Tien, the bird guru recommended by my brother himself. This guy knows the birds of Da Lat like the back of his hand. Prepare for an epic birding journey that'll leave you breathless and your camera begging for mercy!

There is other bird guide and companies (they known English well, can suit your plan):
  1. Vietnam Birding
  2. About Us (Duc Tien Bui)
  3. Vietnam Wildlife Tour & Reasearch - About Us
  4. VietBird Team | Vietnam Birdguides | Vietnam Birding Tours (in this team, Quyen and Phuc are both awesome by my last trip)
  5. https://vietnambirds.net/contact/ (Andy is a person I know, he has both bird knowledge and great hides) - his FB Andy Nguyen

Just want to help, not any single benefit for me around posting this. Even feel hesitate to post and share information beyond my personal relate. Hope you have a good trip ahead.
