Im a Sony Shooter. Currently have a 95, 97 and my primary is a 707. For you new users of the 707 or 717 and looking for some legs for the camera. The Olympus B 300 1.7x tele is an excellent choice but hard to find and very expensive. Normally $250. 00 US. I recently bought a friend the Oly TCON 17 1.7 x tele for his birthday. I stuck it on my camera for a few shots and I think it is actually is a bit sharper than the B 300 and at around $100.00 US plus shipping its a good deal. Does require a 58-54 step down ring as does the B 300.

I own also a sony F707 and was wondering if I could find adaptors for a Swarovski telescope (80).

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

This thread is certainly good timing for me. My husband just bought me theDSC-F717 this week and I am in love!! I have the Fuji FinePix6800 but there is just no comparison between these two cameras!
I take distance shots with the Fuji of the feeders and you can see a dot on the feeder that you have to assume is a bird. I take a shot with the Sony and you can count the feathers!! Unbelievable!
I still know next to nothing about this camera and the next purchase will be a tripod for it but it sure is going to be fun learning. If it ever stops raining, that is, so I can get outside with my new toy!
Any updated info out there about this camera?

I have been using a 2 megapix DSC 50 for 3 years and found it very useful but want to upgrade - but stick with Sony. I'm wobbling between a DSC V1 & the F717 - have you used a F717 with a scope or binoculars ?
The last posting makes it sound as if you use it straight, rather than through a scope or bins.

Sorry, I can't help you as I'm not into scopes or anything like that... yet. I'm still learning how to use this camera but don't see how you could use it with binoculars... the lens on it is 2.5" in diameter. Too big? Definitely too big for my binoculars as the eyepiece on them is only about an inch in diameter. How does that work?

Hi Ray, welcome to birdforum.mnet from all the admin and moderators.
The Sony F717 isn't ideal for digiscoping but I have seen some reasonable web images taken with this camera when used with a scope with a rather specialised digiscoping eyepiece from one of our banner advertisers www.digitalastronomy.com

Hi! This forum does not seem to answer any questions. I was wondering if a Zeiss scope and a f707 or 828 do well with digiscoping. I have both and wish to produce stunning photos. Any comments? :loveme: :flowers:

I have a DSC 717 and whilst it is a great camera it is not much use for digiscoping being (a) too large long and heavy and (b) having much too large lens diameter.
This combination mounted on a tripod would be very unwieldy in my opinion.

I also have a DSC f717 and am interested in a telephoto lens as well as a wide angle and a macro. I have seem them made with exception to the macro lens by sony; however another company named raynox seems to make them as well. I am still an amateur and was wondering whether this is a reputable company or is there any brand for these lenses worth checking into?
