Just wondering if is possible to post a sound clip (bird song) on this forum ?
Or is it frowned upon ?
If OK, then is there a recommended format ? file size limit ? etc ?

Cheers,
Alec

I don’t think it is necessarily frowned upon, but it you have a nice recording consider posting to Xeno Canto or EBird/Macauley Library.

These are both ‘proper’ indexed collections and valuable tools for those wanting to search and listen to recordings of particular birds.

You can also place mystery birds on Xeno Canto, which can be useful.

I generally use Birdforum only to upload files indicating the performance of (or problems with) certain equipment. I am unaware of anyone using Birdforum simply to share recordings and I think it would hard to locate recordings posted in threads (unless they had a specific title.

Thanks Jon,
I was thinking of posting a clip illustrating the H1e recorder attached to a parabolic mic, both items of current discussion on this forum.
But if it's going to received like a lead balloon, then I won't bother.

Cheers,
Alec

Thanks for the positive response.
My new H1e arrived yesterday, but then I discovered it takes micro SD cards, which I don't have.
Back to on-line ordering, should arrive tomorrow, and then I'll do some testing.

Cheers
Alec
