I have been reading an incredible report by Jos Stratford. It is spread over 2001 (11th October to 20th December) and also 2003 (9th December 2002 to 21st March 2003 and if you join them together (months wise) it covers a period of 5 months birding. Obviously there are huge chunks that we can't even consider but there are areas that Jos did that look good and I was wondering how achievable they would be to fit into an itinerary. First of all it is fairly easy to have one day around Table Mountain and fit in some closer places like Simons Town, Constantia Green Belt, and other nearby sites (I think) but there is an area that Jos seemed to have a very productive time in. It included: Clanwilliam area, Paarl, Veldriff, Eland Bay, Pakhuis Pass, Ceres, Kommetjie, West Coast N.P, Kirstenbosh & Karoo N.P. How easy would it be to cover all that above and also do a Pelagic within a 4 night stay (or would you need five nights). Other places mentioned that I don't seem to be able to find on Google Earth include, Grootvadersbosch, Kransvlei Poort, Karoo Poort, Brandsvlei & Eirekop. Over on the Eastern side Jos included sites such as St Lucia, Cape Vidal, Bonamanzi, Eshowe, De Hoop and Wakerstroom. (this after doing the Sani Pass). How many night to do that and where would you stay. St Lucia looks good for at least one night but where else would you stay. We still have to decide how long to stay at the Sani Pass area and also the Garingboom area as well (and don't forget that we seem to have settled on the last few days in Kruger). Does the above appeal to you guys or would you have other suggestions. John
