Hi Dave That is just the info we want. I don't know S.A and I certainly don't know the sites or mileages so what might look achievable to me might be impossible to actually do. Could I pressure you into commenting on the three legs of the journey please. The first (Cape Town + Garingboom & Sani Pass) & the third (Kruger then onto Joberg - although we need to sort out one day in this leg) look fairly set but the 2nd leg looks wide open. First of all what do you think of the first & third legs. Given the days we have allocated to them do they look right. Next, what would you suggest would be the best places to go away from the Sani Pass, and the best places to stay, and how long to stay at each accommodation. In that 2nd leg, Bonmanzi (judging by Jos' report looks excellent) so is that a not to miss place or would you do something else. Would you definitely do Mkuzi or leave that out. Wakkerstroom looks brilliant but as you say it is a very large area and also a bit off route so that one seems best left out of the equation (do you agree). So what are we actually left with on that 2nd leg. That is where your experience comes in. What itinerary would you choose if you were leaving Sani Pass on the way to Kruger? The three of us going on this trip all agree that we are not going to see all the birds. What we are going to do is enjoy the country and at the same time see a variety of birds (and hopefully some other good forms of wildlife on the way). We haven't really targeted any birds but there are a few we would like to see, but not to the extent that we have to spend an exorbitant amount of time for certain birds. If we see them, great, if not we move on. S.A is too vast a country to do in my lifetime, never mind in three weeks so it will hardly make a dent in where we go. All we can hope for is to maximise our time as best as we can with an itinerary that can be done without the need of constantly being under pressure to reach the next point at breakneck speed. What do you think? You guys know the country. You guys know the sites and you guys know the mileages and conditions of the roads. Who best to ask what can and can't be done. John
