Hi Jos Sani Pass is most definitely a site we will not miss out. That is one part of the holiday that I am really looking forward to. Do you think we have done right in allowing two nights there (like you expecting to arrive in darkness on the first night). I must admit that whilst I avidly read virtually every page of your reports and bird lists I ignored the vast majority of it regarding what we could do. Even to me the majority of it was beyond what we could do. That left me with a few sites I would like to have done and I have thrown those names into the melting pot. A lot of those names have been whittled away as being too adventurous but that is the very reason I started this thread to find out what could be done. At the start of the thread we had a wide expanse of places we wanted to do. That has gradually been whittled away until we are close to getting a workable itinerary. There are just the final pieces of the jigsaw to put in place, and hopefully my reply before this will generate the response we are looking for so that we can finalise a workable itinerary. Regarding guides. I totally bow to your experience, having been out in the field with you, but you know how good I am and that is only average. David is a relative beginner and Ivan is a good birder but he has no experience whatsoever of S.A birds so we feel that a guide would be necessary for us in certain places. David knows personally the guide we will be using in the Cape Town area and he has already made suggestions on where to go so Cape Town looks covered already, just the Pelagic to worry about. If the guides were sacrificed so that I can afford to pay £231 for the Pelagic I don't think David & Ivan would appreciate it as they can afford to pay that. It's only me that is struggling with that cost. It's no good me breaking the bank, as you put it, because there is a good chance that I will be retiring three months later so I can't leave myself in debt. I wish I could loose weight. I certainly have cut down on the food but it doesn't seem to have made much difference. Still the old fat fart as ever I'm afraid.:-O:-O:t: John
