Lurking in the bushes is wrong.
These were in a pond near where the Mersey comes in from the sea. They were with drake mallards but didn’t look anything like female mallards. They were peach(?) in colour.
There are supposed to be ruddy shelducks around there but these didn’t seem to fit for them.

They are Mallards. There is a lot of variability.
Not in wild-born-and-bred mallards, there isn't. These are domestic ducks.

I never said they were wild born and bred, whatever that means in Mallard. A significant proportion of Mallards in the 'wild' are domestic in urban UK settings.
