Spoof report from Sussex (4 Viewers)

Has anyone reported whether these are ringed birds (ie. Knepp project-related) or not? Here in France it's peak migration period at the moment...........

No suggestion that these are anything other than the wandering Knepp birds boosted by 33 fresh releases:-

All the best

I was talking to one of the volunteers there a few weeks ago and he said a good few young had fledged there this year too. According to him some of the original birds brought from Poland were injured (eg from flying into power lines), but are kept in an area of Knepp with no public access and behind an electric fence, and build their nests on the ground because they can't fly. Some of the young fledged there every year come from them, as well as the ones nesting in trees that everyone can see.

It's also become a bit of a regular thing this time of year in recent years, that wandering flocks are seen in Sussex and down SW to Cornwall. Could be that the odd European bird gets caught up with them, but a fair amount of them are from reintroduction programs too. Here's a recently fledged juv from there this year anyway
