Bad fire at Wild Ken Hill as fire service declares major incident

The home of the BBC Watches has been hit by a blaze as Norfolk Fire Service declares a major incident due to the number of incidents in the heatwave.

I've been reminded, by the number of fire services that are struggling, of the fire officer who when talking to his controller during the burning of the London Docks at the outset of the Blitz said: "send everything you've got, the whole bloody world's on fire".

Warming and drying will result in a lot more of this, the UK needs to invest in quantity of fire assets including a new fleet of water bombing aircraft. It ought to be a Europe wide project especially given the mobility of air assets but heigh ho.
