Copmere / Swynnerton Thanks Russell and Fair Isle. In case anyone is interested in the area, the gulls can be viewed at Swynnerton Landfill from the footpath to the north of the site but viewing isn't brilliant. They seem to head for Coldmeece Pools in the afternoon and can be viewed from the road bridge over the railway. As with last year, they do roost at Copmere so it's worth getting there late afternoon (Glauc arrived at 2.50) to check them out. What happened last year and probably this, is that they roost during the shortest days of the year but come mid-late Jan when there's a bit more daylight, they pre-roost (or sometimes annoyingly just fly over) at Copmere then head on to somewhere else - either Aqualate or Belvide. I saw more large gulls at Coldmeece yesterday than Copmere so not all the birds will roost at Copmere. Plus I've also seen them in the fields to the SE and SW of Cotes Heath so be prepared to do a bit of searching if you're in the area. Had a look for the Falcated Duck and it's Chiloe Wigeon pals but none of them were there yesterday :king: Nick
