Stonefaction's 2011 List. (1 Viewer)

Sunday 27th March

An excellent day out round Angus with the local RSPB group. First stop was Monikie CP where 4 Little Gulls were hawking over the main reservoir, and 3 Sand Martins were seen rather distantly as well.
From there we headed to Crombie CP where 3 or 4 Chiffchaffs were making themselves heard and seen. Saw another one at Montreathmont Forest later too.
Nothing new at Montrose Basin or Auchmithie. Missed out on Corn Bunting by my navigation skills being a bit rusty, but one of the party spotted the Glaucous Gull at Arbroath hanging round a small fishing boat with a bunch of other gulls. A lifer for me.

121. Little Gull
122. Glaucous Gull
123. Sand Martin
124. Chiffchaff

Saturday 2nd April

A run round a few locations in Angus in the hope of a few migrants and other interesting birds failed to produce Osprey, Wheatear or Puffin. A wee group of Corn Buntings was a nice catch though.

135. Willow Warbler

Monday 18th April

A 5 hr stint at Forfar Loch spent walking slowly round produced a total of 56 species, but yet again only 1 addition to the yearlist. Good views of an Osprey overhead, and some good views of Lesser Redpoll amongst other things.
Tried for the Purple Heron in Fife in the early evening, but it was in hiding.

136. Common Sandpiper

Sunday 24th April

A trip to Musselburgh and Aberlady with the Dundee RSPB group produced 5 new birds for the yearlist. Grasshopper Warblers reeling all over the place. Decent views at Musselburgh Lagoons of one by the top hide. Added a Whitethroat while headed to the shoreline, then a passing Sandwich Tern, and a couple of Common Terns over the river.
At Aberlady SOC centre, a couple of House Martins were seen. Even better views of a Grasshopper Warbler were had at Aberlady when I managed to find one skulking low in a bush. Sedge Warblers were heard there also but not seen (as were Whitethroat).
