Strange bird - Unknown (1 Viewer)

Hello,
The picture has been taken during a trip in Canada in August, along the Saint-Laurent, close to the ocean. The quality of the photo is not good at all because the bird was very far. The bird was flying in a group of Northern Gannets.
Any idea of what it could be ???

That's my feeling too, Laughing Gull, but white collar effer is very wierd.

Looks like a Skua than a Gull to me. Could be Pomarine or Parasitic jaeger; Pomarine jaeger, in all likelihood,going by the heavier, broad wing appearance.

That *is* an odd effect but it looks like a ‘Banana bill’ to me.

Laughing Gull for me too - I suspect the dark below the white 'collar' is the shadow of the right wing, but can't rule out staining as a possibility.

It's a Laughing Gull as far as I can tell.
