I think live and let live. Ive seen enough "gurus" cocking up over the past few years that its matters little if some everyday birder is doing so now and again. ( the irish gurus in particular seem to be declining with age ;) niggle niggle Ive no time for these people who claim to be only concerned with "the verifiable record of what is acceptable". Thats just an excuse to be a c*ck! I dont know one single birder who started out birding with the librarian and importance of ID topics on their mind. Everyone i know started out with a love of just watching birds. Somewhere along the line we all get sucked into this red tape nonsense and claims of string and who has the higher list. It wears thin. I say what ive always said. Enjoy your birding. If that means you supress birds to keep your head out of the sniper sights then so be it! Dont let anyone take one iota of pleasure from your time out birding. Owen
