"Stuck" tripod head (1 Viewer)

About a year ago I purchased Manfrotto tripod(legs) #MT055CXPRO3..very good quality. I attached my "vintage" Manfrotto/Bogen #3130 tripod head to the legs (that head has been replace by Manfrotto 128 RC)at that time .

Now I cannot completely tighten the head when I turn it clockwise but unfortunately also cannot remove it when turning opposite direction. It seems to be stuck in place...perhaps the threads on the head are stripped (?)

Any suggestions on how to solve this dilemma ?

Assuming that the problem fluid head is the 128rc. Have you undone the 3 retaining screws on the underside of the 128 fluid head? Spray them first with suitable rust easing spray, and the upper tensioning nut, then undue those 3 grub screws. The head should now be free, though it may take a few repeated efforts. To undo the head from the tripod legs, tighten the large horizontal tensioner, then turn anti clockwise.
Good luck.
