Quick pop back
A quick return to the county on sunday was very successful got to Lakenheath fen for 5.30 AM, the early start paid off cracking views of 2 lifers Savi,s Warbler and the Red-footed falcon, thanks for staying!!, also 2 Groppers actuallly seen! Cracking views of Bittern,Beardie and Common Crane, heard the Oriole but didn't see it and likewise a Turtle Dove. Cuckoos and Swifts all over the place and noisy Sedge,Reed and Cetti's Warblers were also a treat.
Left at about ten with the car park full to bursting and apparently 2 coachloads on the way, place is popular this time of year!!
Next i went to Weeting where i paid 4 quid!! but at least did get to see a couple of Stonies and my first Spot Fly of the year.
After a very large Carvery in Ipswich i finished the day at a heath in Rendlesham forest great views of a hunting Barn Owl but only 1 Nightjar heard, there were at least 4 in the same spot last year but suppose it might be a bit early as yet and the weather ain't been great.
All in all a great day which started with a Little Owl in Sprouton and finished with a Barn Owl in the forest
Cheers
