I may yet buy the heavily discounted Bushnell Elites which whilst not in the same league, are a third of the cost.To recap, I would ask any owner or anyone trying the SV's this:Roll the focus wheel both ways and establish which way is harder than the other. (its very noticeable but I cant remember which way now).Then with one finger start applying pressure in the direction thats hardest. You should find that instead of smoothly turning, the wheel will 'jump' ... not significantly, but enough to be noticeable. As I have said elsewhere, it may be that I have just been spoilt by the mechanism on the 8x elites I am now using, but I dont think so, because I owned Zeiss FL's at the same time as the old EL's.</blockquote>
