Hi Temmie, 1. I would find it very hard to believe that other top optics are significantly more reliable than a Swarovski Optik product; 2. Warranty and service would be a very silly way to pull a marketing trick :eek!: if the product is not up to scratch. Producing unreliable products with a strong warranty and a dedication to service would end up very expensive very quickly. If a company were to produce unreliable products then it would make sense to have a sleepy unmotivated warranty facility. If on the other hand, the company spends a lot of time and effort on customer service then it makes a whole lot of sense to make sure the products are as reliable as possible so we don't have to fix them; 3. when I first started at Swarovski Optik, I was very surprised at the obsession with quality. This seems to be in the blood of everyone person I have met down in engineering, construction and production and I respect this immensely. As I said, I was astounded by it and have the utmost respect for them. I would not be surprised if human-errors and mis-judgements creep in but they really do everything possible to make sure this does not happen. The company was one of the very first in Europe to be certified ISO 9001:2000 (in 1999). See more here: http://www.swarovskioptik.com/en/quality-policy Kind regards and happy birding, Dale
