SWITZERLAND 2025 (1 Viewer)

At Fluelen in Uri.
No rain but still rather cold.
This week is one of the best for migratory species.
Some 40 species seen or heard including 100s Barn Swallows, Craig Martins, Common Swifts, Great Crested Grebes, etc.
Stars included Purple Heron, Red Backed Shrike, Lesser Whitethroats, Whinchat, etc.
Other reports there included Turtle Doves, Northern Wheatear, etc.

The Sun is out and the temperature rises.
Up at Seeliesberg (Uri), one of the best places for Western Bonellis Warblers.

Two seen today as well as my first Pied Flycatcher.

Some 25 Species seen or heard including Black and Red Kites, Coal tits, Marsh tit, Green Woodpeckers and Goldcrests.
I have previously found Bullfinches, Sparrowhawk, Crested tits, Willow tits etc there.
Nice habitats as well as good views.
Several butterflies seen including first Silver Washed Fritillary, Swallowtail, Common Blue, Speckled Wood, Wood White and Cloudy Yellow.

I supposed I have to mention the Spoonbill at Klingnauersee which I haven't seen due to family stuff..sighreceived_530224486115961.jpeg
Some other nice birds reported there including Grey Plover, Black Terns, Black tailed Godwit!
Red footed Falcon still being reported in many areas..must be a good year for May/June Bugs ( Chaffers).
Montagu Harriers still around!
Get out there!
 
What I really enjoy in Switzerland are the local Nature sites. These are built, managed and protected by local biologists etc.

There are many sites locally that I need to visit.
