Message: <blockquote data-quote="colonelboris" data-source="post: 1816463" data-attributes="member: 40117">Went to Manly and North Head today.  Being Mother's Day here, the Mrs wanted to do a light spot of birding while also keeping the kids entertained.  Not an awful at lot at Manly - no sign of Little Penguins from the ferry - but there were a few Greater Crested Terns and Pied Cormorants.  While having lunch, we heard a call which I've heard a couple of times lately - a Little Lorikeet - and we were almost certain we saw it, too.Walking up to North Head (having missed the hourly bus by a few seconds), we went to the rather nice visitor's centre, which kept the kids well entertained making postcards and Long-nosed Bandicoot masks (those creatures being a feature of the place).  Walking round the nature trail, we were inundated with Red Wattlebirds, Little Wattlebirds and, best of all, New Holland Honeyeaters.  The light was going, so we didn't get to see much else, but worth another trip.</blockquote>
