The Bigma is too heavy for that . ( on a tripod - there's no difference- they are all steady and easy ).The Tamron has never left the camera since then.A 500 or 600 m"m prime lense is surely better but considering the average bird photographer and budget - i find the Tamron \ Bigma a great solution .
