Bruce, When I use binoculars I brace them just under my eye brows on my brow ridge. I had been thinking about purchasing a Nikon Monarch 7 8x30 when it first came out but its 15.1 mm ER made me think it over; that and the glare issue. I can manage with 15mm but I do better with longer ER and I have the Swarovski 8x30 CL and SLC which both have similar ER in the 15mm range. Curiously I don't have any problem with my Nikon 8x30 EII which has about 13mm ER. When I saw that the Terra ED was over 16mm I decided to get it and so far I have found its eye placement is easy for me, especially with its very large eye cups. This 16.5mm is pretty accurate because the lenses are not recessed too deeply under the eye cups. They are far enough away to protect glasses. I tried it with my reading glasses on and got the same FOV. It would be good to compare the Nikon and the Terra ED because they are competitively priced. I note that the original FOV of the 8x30 Terra of 442'@1000yards is not at all accurate. Eagle Optics is now showing it to be 404'@1000 yards and they have backed off the 10x32 from 367' to 335'@1000 yards. My estimate for the 8x30 makes it closer to 7.5º, in a comparison with my Leica 8x42 Ultravid Blackline, or about 390'@1000 yards FWIW. I also note that the exterior of the 8x30 Terra ED is much more attractive than the exterior of my 8x42 Terra ED is. Zeiss seems to have taken notice that improved exterior looks on its 30mm Terras can help sell them. And it doesn't have that industrial aroma that the 8x42 Terra ED had for a while before it dissipated. Bob
