Really wanted the fl but didn't want to spend the coin. Plus, I decided I could get two pair for less than one zeiss, and bought a non HD viper 8x42 and a bushnell 10x42 legend ultra hd. While I liked the workmanship of the vipers, the view on the legends was better and the extra power was nice, so I never used the viper. I never really liked them so they ride around in my suv. Also have a Porro pair of bushmell 8x42 that I keep on my Polaris ranger so they get beat around but surprisingly clear and bright for 150$.
Well, as much as I've been firing off questions, I might as well drop a non question post here. I go through binge shopping. Until a week or two ago, I haven't been on this site since appx 2011 when I last had the binoc bug. At the time, I was considering the zeiss Fl, pre ht and pre SF. Then, I bought a Leupold yosemite 6x30 for my daughter and love them. Light and fun to carry around vs all my 8-10x42s. I got another 8x 28 bushnell recommended by a bf member named lilcrazy. I never really liked them so they ride around in my suv. Also have a Porro pair of bushmell 8x42 that I keep on my Polaris ranger so they get beat around but surprisingly clear and bright for 150$. My last pair, which happened to be my first decent pair, despite the brand name, were Porro 8x42 Simmons presidential, orig 300$ about 18 years ago, on clearance at sportsmanship guide for 99$. They had bak4 glass and fully multi coated. I still have and use them but I keep them at the beach for bird watching. Not sure how many that is...actually, almost forgot, I just bought a pair of 10x40 conquests. I got them bc recently, I used my friends 10x42 el sb and said, I don't expect them to be better or brighter than my legends, and if they are, I will be looking for a new pair. Well, no explaining necessary, hence the search for another pair which led to the conquest based on alllbino review but I want more. Once I scratch this itch w a new used pair of fl or ht's, I will likely be off to something new. I also have nine grills, but that's a whole other problem.
