Pam...have a look at picture 4 on #79 on here....I knew it was there somewhere!!!

Well done, Wendy! Thanks for finding the post!:t:

The branches on the tree in your pic are woody, whereas the stem and branches on the one in my garden are soft stems. I am puzzled with this one. I will have to watch and see how it progresses, the rate it is growing it will fill the bed it is growing in! I will keep you posted on this one.

Lovely, Pam & two more Orchids as well.
You can see what I mean about the different varieties of Common Spotted Ochid, the one in your pic is white, it makes it so hard to identify those.

Thanks, Val!

I do indeed see what you mean with varieties of the Common Spotted Orchid...worse than Id'ing bird species at times!o:D Surprising colour forms with C S Orchid and very pretty.

At Cors Goch Nature Reserve in North Wales the Common Spotted Orchids where numerous! I had never seen so many growing in one area before.
The photo of the Greater Burdock was taken at Upton Warren.

Managed to get out for a couple of hours this afternoon after more than 32 hours of continuous rain. Visited a tiny nature reserve on banks of South Tyne called Williamston near Slaggyford.

An interesting mix of flowers and would like to have spent longer but some very heavy showers put paid to it.

Pic 1 sets the scene, the remaining 4 are of Mountain Pansies showing some of the colour variations they are lovely.

Part 2 to follow

Williamston Reserve Part 2

Caught up with one of my target species Dune Helleborine and very easy to overlook amongst tall vegetation. 50 - 60 plants seen and a lot of size variation.

Pics 1,2,3 Dune Helleborine
Pic 4 Eyebright
Pic 5 Unknown, tiny plant 2-3 inches, will put on other forum.

Couldn't find any Moschatel but weather cut my search short.

Don't know how I missed these. Beautiful flowers, plants & the moth.
The Orchids on the verge of our main road, Pam, are close together like that as well.
I think the Mountain Pansies are a lovely colour too Stewart. There is a lot of Ragwort around here too, the council are supposed to remove it where it's near fields.

All the flowers that I saw along the coast today are the same as I have shown you before, just at differing stages so I didn't bother with them! The only new item is the Bullrush.

This evening I saw this one lone Poppy in a massive field of Linseed.

The Orchids are lovely to see when in quantities aren't they, Val! I remember you posting photo's of the Orchids on the verge last year if my memory serves me well!

Nice pics there, Wendy! Strange a single poppy, determined to flower wasn't it!

Yes I did, Pam, sadly this year I left it too late & the area was so overgrown getting to the Orchids, with brambles & stinging nettles, that I couldn't get near them. The rabbit population seems to have disappeared there, they kept the vegetation down. It's more like a small field than a grass verge, that area.

A pity it was/is so overgrown, Val! Beneficial for insects though the nettles and brambles!

Council had cut the area after, Pam, but too late for me to take pics of the Orchids as they had all finished flowering. At least that council do leave their wildflower areas to set seed, before they cut the verge & then it's only the outside, they never mess with the part where the Orchids are, probably why there are so many there. Next year I will be quicker.:t:

Lesser Burdock and some ripening Blackberries from this morning's walk. It looks like a very good blackberry year down here providing we get some warmth and sunshine over the next few weeks.
