Looking at NBN gateway (link below), it does appear to be a very southern species (although I guess that not everyone gives sightings to NBN, so might be gaps in the data to some extent). But given the size of the leap the records suggest it would have to take, I'd be surprised if the county recorder accepted the record without either a photo or the specimen, unfortunately. Be interesting to see if any more sightings or photos come in.

I have now received a reply from Craig Slawson Staffordshire Beetle expert he believes it is probably a stag horn beetle called Rhagium bifasciatum which occurs on Cannock Chase.
Craig has located a photo on the internet which is labelled Wood Tiger Beetle but he said it's a Staghorn Beetle and probably Rhagium bifasciation.
Beetles being diificult to identify County Recorders would only except records with strong evidence.

I know its not good practice to trap two nights together but only had a couple so i give it go last night, i think the first one is a flame shoulder but not sure about the other two sorry about the quality of the photos.

First ever moth trap venture, sat watching it for half an hour(weired) did see a hedgehog inspect it! anyway this morning two moths a cinnabar and a clouded bordered brindle moth list=2, Thanks to george who built the tardis and decided to pass it on,:t:

Need Id help with this one found under the lid cant find a good match in the book 15-18mm quick then flew off,nearest match i can find is spectacle due to the markings on front,what an amateur:-O

i think this to be a melanistic common swift very strange looking moth just wondering if anyone else had seen something like this.
