Presumably we can expect the same formats to continue: 8/10x32, 8/10x42, 8/10/15x56?

Is there any improvement in the optics? This chart suggests only a cosmetic refresh.

It says they have edge-to-edge sharpness so probably a flat field design optically which would be nice.

I like the weight reduction with the magnesium chassis, which could amount to several ounces.

It sounds like they improved the eye cups, which is a good thing.

I like the flip down objective lens covers and the new case.

It sounds like the armor is improved, maybe more like the SF, which is nice.

I bet they will increase the FOV to about 8.3 degree to compete with the Nikon MHG.

Overall, the improvements sound great and would be worth the upgrade.

I know I will buy one for sure if they are priced right at about $1000.

Hmm, I might even trade in the Zeiss FL 8x32 if the glass has enough Fluorite in it to correct CA satisfactorily.

Any new pair of premium binoculars should now have the option of adding a forehead rest !!!!
Swaro' has really done well with this addition, this tool, which I "unfortunately" really couldn't do without from now on !!!

Zeiss uploaded two videos about the HDX onto Youtube a month ago! 🤷‍♂️

Both are just over a minute long, and until now the first has had only 61 views, and the second 153:

The second includes an internal view of what appears to be a x42 model:

The eyepiece appears complex, though the detail is unclear.

OK, so maybe improved optics after all. Post #1 did say "edge to edge sharpness" and the second video says "Field Flattener"... why didn't that make it into the comparison table I posted?

Need to find someone to check if the 10% weight reduction will affect the proven robustness of the old model.. including shotgun resistance ;-)
Wouldn’t expect too much spec change, don’t want to overlap with other models, give the customer clear options.

Bar weight, the specs look pretty similar to the previous iterations if the data on BH are correct (see links below). Bit of a shame the 8x42 hasn't gained more FOV. On the other hand, the 8x42 seems to have been on a more effective diet than its 8x32 sibling.

I didn’t expect a field flattener. I’m not sure I like this yet.

improved color accuracy which I did expect. I imagined new coatings like in the SFL. This is good news.

I imagined a better, slimmer ergonomic shape but I guess they needed to keep the body similar to house the similar optical train. Seems the optics are similar to the original with just new coatings and a field flattener lens. Looks like they got rid of the extra padded rubber on the sides of the barrel that the original had making it a little less bulky (this is good).

32mm available already! 8x32 specs seem the same as the original. same 16mm eye relief is a little disappointing. 17mm would have been nice.

Locking diopter not necessary IMO.

How did we miss that video posted a month ago.

I wish Lee were here to see this.

The HDX details are now up on the main Zeiss site in English at: ZEISS Conquest HDX Binoculars | The ideal premium all-round binoculars

And the HDX manual (in German) can be found by selecting one of the models and going to the bottom of the page.
It includes the main spec's in one table:

Per Google Translate:
Dämmerungszahl - twilight factor;
Austrittspupillen-Abstand - exit pupil distance;
Stickstofffüllung - nitrogen filling;
Änderungen in Ausführung und Lieferumfang, die der technischen Weiterentwicklung dienen, sind vorbehalten
- Changes in design and scope of delivery, which serve the technical development, are reserved.

EDIT:
Well that wasn't too smart of me - the manual is in several languages - I just didn't go far enough into it! 🤦‍♂️

So this time in English:

But what about the eyecups?
This is a great question. The eyecups on the old version felt very scratchy when being pulled into position and not at all what you'd expect on a premium bin. Sure it didn't affect the viewing, but it still just jarred a bit.

aspherical lenses used as the ‘field flatteners’. I recall the old Minox HG had these.
the body shape is very similar between the two (HDX and HG). I wonder how many binoculars use aspherical lenses?

HDX looks interesting so far. Zeiss making a bunch of small improvements without radically changing the highly regarded Conquest.
Seems like some smart choices IMO.
